Microsoft announces Bing Video Creator powered by Sora AI

Microsoft has announced a new feature for Bing, the ability to generate videos using OpenAI's Sora. However, it is only available on mobile devices for now.

Bing Video Creator, as it is called, lets you create a video simply by describing the content that you want to see.

There are some limitations for creating videos using Bing Video Creator, the videos are 5 seconds long and only available in 9:16 aspect ratio. The announcement says that support for the 16:9 format is coming soon. Up to 3 videos can be queued at a time. Bing will notify you when your video is ready, and you can choose to download the video, or share it with your friends, they can view it in any web browser. Microsoft will store the videos you created for 90 days, after which they are deleted.

Bing Video Creator is rolling out to users worldwide, except China and Russia. To try it, download the Bing app on your iPhone or Android device. Tap on the button in the bottom-right corner, and select Bing Video Creator. Type your query in the text box, and tap on the create button. After a few seconds, the AI will generate the video for you. Alternatively, you could just type something like "Create a video of", followed by your requirement, in Bing's search bar and it will generate the video. If you are not happy with the result, you can tap on recreate.

OpenAI launched Sora last year, but it is not available for free. Microsoft has partnered with OpenAI to bring the AI video generation in Bing Video Creator for free. But there is a catch, users get 10 fast creations for free, once you run out of that you can optionally spend 100 Microsoft Rewards points for each Fast creation, or continue using Standard Creation speeds which are significantly slower.

Microsoft says it will bring Bing Video Creator to desktop and Copilot Search soon. It will be available on desktop at https://bing.com/create. Currently, the web version only supports image generation, not videos.
